About Our Little Town

The City of Madison:

Madison is a small town situated just an hour east of Atlanta and half an hour south of Athens. Its antebellum architecture makes it a tourist attraction to sightseers from all over the world who seek historically significant towns. Madison was voted as one of the worlds most picturesque villages by Budget Travel Magazine.

Morgan County Charter School System:

Morgan County Schools offer higher learning programs for students who look beyond the normal grade class study. Ranking consistently in the top 20% of schools in Georgia, our small town gives students and teachers a productive working relationship that many urban cities do not have.

Events:

Madison/Morgan County hosts many local events, gathering those from within and beyond to enjoy. From concerts in the park on a cool spring evening to art shows at the Steffen Thomas Museum, we offer many forms of activities and entertainment. Friday night lights up the football field in the fall as hundreds come to cheer on our Bulldogs. Rutledge hosts a Friday evening concert every week throughout the summer. Farmview farmers market is a great place to pick up locally grown produce.

Eats and Treats:

Madison is filled with small quaint restaurants and stores. The doors are always open and you will be sure to be greeted by a smiling face. From a delicious pressed sandwich from Madison Produce to melt in your mouth fudge from Antique Sweets, you will always find a place to satisfy your tummy. You’ll also find treasures at the many antique shops around the downtown area.
